Who I Am

I am a writer, artist, and sometime musician. I started writing poems and stories almost as soon as I could put words on paper. I have continued to write all through my life, but because of family illness, just put it all away without trying to publish anything. Hardly anyone, besides myself, ever saw what I wrote.

Now, at 88, my first book, "The White Tree," a slim volume of poetry, was published in February, 2007. It is exciting and rewarding to have my work finally in print.

I am busy organizing all my other writing and getting it into publishable form. I have stories from different periods of my life, essays, and poems. There are two books in the works. One is on my experiences as an Indian Trader in the 70's, and the other is about my travels with a small circus, for two months out of each year, for four years, as a writer, photographer, and popcorn lady (that was the hard part!).

I plan to post parts of the circus book in my section, "Circus Travels." Thoughts, poems, and reactions to what is going on in the world, will appear on my "Front Page." Information on my books, "The White Tree," and "Circus Travels," will appear in the section, "My Books."

As for the artist part of me, it suffered the same fate as the writer, but I am beginning again to function as an artist, and will post some of the results in my section, "Art and Music."
The musician part of me has also been stifled, so I will also talk about music and my musical family.
